About isttotimeconverter.com

A focused tool for one problem: working across India Standard Time and everywhere else.

What this is

isttotimeconverter.com converts India Standard Time to any major time zone or world city, converts back the other way, and works out when two teams can actually meet. Every page has IST on one side. That constraint is deliberate: this is not a world clock, and it is not trying to become one.

India is an unusual starting point for time conversion. It runs a single zone across the whole country, sits at UTC+5:30 rather than a round hour, and has not observed daylight saving since 1945 — while almost every country it trades with does. The result is that the gap between India and its partners moves twice a year, in one direction only, and lands on half hours. Most of the wrong answers on the internet come from ignoring one of those three facts.

Who it is for

Principles

Answer the real question

“What time is 3 PM IST in New York” is usually a stand-in for “when can we meet”. So every conversion page also shows where the two working days overlap — or states plainly that they do not.

Say what you do not know

Lunar holiday dates are labelled as predictions. Regional holidays are excluded and said to be excluded. Pages spanning many countries show no holiday panel rather than guessing one.

Be fast and stay still

Pages are static HTML with the answer already rendered. No layout shift, no widget booting, no third-party requests, no advertising.

Grow on evidence

367 cities exist in the dataset; 137 conversion pages are currently published. The rest are built and working but deliberately unpublished until there is reason to add them.

How it is built

Time zone rules come from the IANA database via the platform’s Intl API, read at build time. Nothing is hard-coded, which is why rule changes reach the pages with a rebuild rather than a rewrite. The methodology page goes through the calculations, the sources, and the edge cases in detail.
